We kick off the festival with a concert that is guaranteed to have you dancing in the aisles. Frances Kennedy, of storytelling fame is our host for the evening.
Don Stiffe, Jack Talty and Damien O’Reilly, bringing us an exciting evening of the very best in traditional music and song.
Don Stiffe is one of the greatest singer songwriters on the Irish music scene. His singing prowess is up there with Sean Keane, Dessy O’Halloran and Sean Tyrell. Don was a finalist in the All Ireland Talent Show in 2011 and his song ‘Somebody Special’ was crowned song of the year from the Live Ireland Awards. His latest CD ‘Longing for the day’ was launched in November 2018 to widespread public acclaim.
Jack Talty or the ‘master of the concertina’ as he is known, hails from Co Clare and is also a composer and music producer. He is currently musician in residence at UCC and artistic director of Irish trad music label Raelach Records. He is one of the leading traditional Irish musicians of his generation and according to the Irish Times has ‘an ear for the sublime’.
Damien O’Reilly is an esteemed accordion player from Co Clare. He learned music in his native Corofin and his playing reflects the rhythmical style of the area. He has toured extensively in Europe and completed a tour with the Kilfenora Ceili band. He is musicial director of the acclaimed Corofin Music Festival
Brosna Bucks -Patrick Moriarty and Daniel Fitzgerald, currently on the Killarney gig scene who provide a fusion of trad and modern music.
Greta Curtin – an acclaimed Brosna concertina player and musician with Siamsa Tire, together with fellow musicians will be sure to bring a few lively Sliabh Luachra slides to the stage.
